List Unspecified Berth Markers
Unspecified Berth Markers view
A berth marker can be any of the following:
A berth label: An arbitrary label that XPS can draw alongside bollards in the Berth Scheduler window.
A bollard: A named location on the quay (in meters) that has ingress and egress vertices. Bollards are important landmarks on the quay. Physically, a bollard is a line-securing device on a wharf around which mooring and berthing lines are fastened. In N4, bollards are points that touch the edge of the berth at the quay wall. In XPS, you can view bollards in the Berth Scheduler window.
Along with offset distances, such as distance from bollard X, bollards are helpful when you need to specify a location on or along the quay, or assign ship visit ingress and egress vertices.
A slip: A named ramp on the quay that has ingress and egress vertices. Like bollards, they are important landmarks on the quay and are helpful when you need to specify a location on or along the quay, or assign ship visit ingress and egress vertices. Physically, they function as ramps. You can view slip or indented berths in the Berth Scheduler window.
The Unspecified Berth Markers view lists all of the berth markers that do not have geometries defined. Typically, these berth markers come from the berths.txt file. In other words, once you place any of these berth markers on the map, N4 assigns geometries to them and removes them from this view.
For more information on placing berth markers on the map, see Berth Marker form (on page 1).
Unspecified berth markers that are not placed on the map in Yard Editor are not included in the N4 generated berths.txt file that is pushed to XPS.
